Publisher News: The Undersea Journal/Bonnier

Q: Why is The Undersea Journal changing from a print to digital format?

A: To expedite magazine delivery to members with a mailing address outside of the U.S. These members will now have immediate access to the publication rather than having to wait weeks for delivery. Migrating the publication to digital also helps support the PADI organization’s commitment to green initiatives.

Q: When will the change from print to digital delivery take place?

A: All PADI Members with a mailing address outside of the U.S. will receive their first digital copy of The Undersea Journal beginning with the first quarter 2016 edition.

Q: When does the first quarter 2016 issue mail?

A: Distribution for the first quarter 2016 issue begins on 26 January 2016.

Q: Which PADI Members get print and which get digital?

A: Distribution details are as follows:

  • Print Delivery: PADI Americas Members residing within the domestic U.S. (50 states) will continue to receive print delivery.
    • Any PADI Americas Members residing within the U.S. who previously opted for digital delivery will continue to receive digital issues.
    • PADI Americas Members may request digital delivery at any time via the PADI Preference Center in the Pros’ Site.
    • PADI Americas Members with an APO/FPO mailing address will continue to receive print issues unless otherwise requested.
  • Digital Delivery: All PAM Members with a non U.S. mailing address, and all PCAN, PLA, PEMEA and PAP Members will default to digital delivery.
    • PADI Members with a non U.S. that prefer print may change their delivery preference in the My Account section of the PADI Pros’ Site. There will be no additional charge for print delivery in 2016.
  • Digital Delivery: PADI Asia Pacific Japan currently translates The Undersea Journal and then sends digital copies to PAPJ Members. There are no changes planned for this delivery method at this time.

Q: What if a PADI Member wishes to change his delivery preference?

A: A PADI Member may change his delivery preference by visiting the PADI Pros’ Site (http://www.padi.com/mypadi) and selecting either “digital” (which is the default for members without a U.S. mailing address) or “print”. Note: The change from digital to print is not immediate as mailing labels are printed up to six weeks in advance. Therefore, a member who has changed his preference from digital to print delivery may still receive his next issue in digital format.
